We use open cell insulation for interior insulation in places such as lofts which is breathable and we use closed cell insulation for the interior beams on sheds and structures.

The lighter density of open cell foam will perform much better than closed cell when it comes to sound dampening as well. The thicker, softer material of open cells will reduce sound waves much more efficiently than that of the tight, dense closed cell foam.

We use a breathable vent card which is placed in between your attic or loft rafters 50mm from the roofing felt, to allow water vapour to escape the structure. This is to prevent the buildup of harmful damp and mould to accumulate in the attic or loft.

Water vapour is built up in any structure where humans breathe, sweat, shower or cook.

If the attic will be used later or is currently being used, we will shave down the spray foam to an even finish with the adjacent rafters which will make it easy to apply drywalling at a later stage.
